Decoding Employee Taxes and Compliance

Program Description: Do you want to understand the rules on employee taxation, withholding tax on compensation, tax-exempt compensation, and fringe benefits tax? Employers and payroll personnel are expected to apply the correct tax treatment to compensation, benefits, and employer compliance obligations. Errors in classification, computation, withholding, filing, and reporting may result in deficiency taxes, penalties, and compliance issues. This program is designed to provide a practical and organized discussion of the rules on employee taxation, what counts as compensation income, what items are exempt from compensation tax, how withholding tax is computed, how fringe benefits are taxed, and the filing, remittance, registration, and reporting duties of employers and employees. Learning Outcomes: To understand the basic framework of employee taxation and the proper classification of employee taxpayers. To identify compensation income and distinguish taxable items from exempt items. To apply the rules on withholding tax on compensation, including timing, methods, and computation. To apply the rules on fringe benefits tax and understand the filing and reporting duties of employers and employees.
